Composite (laminating) membrane PU adhesive

1. Brief Introduction

The host agent( MU-2181) is a mixture of polyester polyol and the curing agent (MU-1720) is aromatic isocyanate.

The product is a kind of two-component solvent polyurethance adhesives and is suitable for the lamination between aluminum foil, pre-treated polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester and polyamide films, metalizing film and glass paper and in particular.

3. Characteristics

  1. Low viscosity with high solid content and good efficiency.
  2. Low volatility and low effect on production.
  3. High peel strength, good stability, strong mucous membrane

4. Instruction

  1. Mixing ratio (weight): MU2181/MU1720= 5:1
  2. Solvent: Usually ethyl acetate. Moisture in the solvent shall be no more than 300ppm, the ethanol content no more than 200ppm. The aromatic and alcoholic solvents are not suitable for use.
  3. Dilution: According to solid content repuired, the diluent shall be added in MU2181 first, and then the curing agent MU1720 added into diluted MU2181 with intensive mixing in the whole process. The dilution parameters are shown as follows:

  4. Coating amount: Coating amount of dry laminating is selected in between 2.5-5g/m. The coating amount for the laminating proiducts deeply processed shall be increased appropriately, and that for the printed film, shall also be adjusted proportionally.
  5. Working concentration: Reference using content is chosen in between 25-40% and usually 25-35% are suggested.
  6. Curing: Curing time is 24-72 hours and curing temperature is usually 50 ± 5
    °C. Requirements for the film
    1). Polyethylene and polypropylene films shall be treated with corona so as to reach surface tensions of higher than 39dyne and 39dyne, respectively.
    2). The category and amount of additives (especially the content of lubricant) in the film have an influence to different extent on bonding strength and therefore, shall be selected and controlled before using.
  7. Residual glue: In principle the residue glue can't be used again. Please formulate the glue according to minimum working load. If turbidness or viscosity increasing happens to the residue glue, then, it can't be used.

5. Package and Storage

MU2181   20KG/barrel,  MU1720   4KG/barrel
The product should be packed with qualified barrels or other vessels, stored in cool, dry and sun-screening conditions. The storage lifetime is 1 year.

The conditions and mixing ratio listed in this specification are only as reference. It is suggested that user adjust appropriately according to particular equipment, materials, environment and applying situations.
